Visitors and residents of North Kesteven had the chance last weekend to discover the delights that the district has to offer.
Heritage Open Days is a four-day festival designed to celebrate our national architecture and heritage. It’s also a great chance to see some stunning buildings that are not normally open to the public.
This year 15 venues from North Kesteven took part in the national festival along with some wonderful events including special exhibitions and guided walks enabling you to discover the architectural treasures that brings local history and culture to life
North Kesteven District Council’s visitor venues, Cogglesford Watermill, Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre and Navigation House all took part offering free refreshments and children’s trails. Cogglesford Watermill was also in action on the Sunday giving visitors a great experience watching the mill stones turn to grind the grain to make their own flour.
650 visitors in total passed through the doors discovering the venues fascinating history. Visitors were pleasantly surprised with having learnt some amazing histories as well as knowing that these three venues are all free to visit all year round.
