It’s now less than two weeks to go until this year’s Spires and Steeples Challenge – a charity walking or running event from Lincoln to Sleaford.
Taking place on Sunday 16 October, today marks only 30 days to go until this year’s Spires and Steeples Challenge.
Now in its ninth year, the Spires and Steeples Challenge is a 26 or 13 mile run or walk testing your physical strength, stamina, and mental grit. With no podiums, winners, or clocks to race against, it’s not about how fast you can cross the finish line; it’s a challenge that emphasizes teamwork, solidarity, and accomplishing something truly great.
“We’re really looking forward to this year’s challenge!” Says Events Manager Donna Sutton. “Our numbers steadily increase each year but we want a real to push for more this year especially as we start to prepare for the 10th anniversary next year.”
Starting in Lincoln, the route follows the Spires and Steeples Arts & Heritage Trail, an off road trail that follows way marked public footpaths and bridleways crossing open fields and countryside lanes, finishing at the National Centre for Craft and Design in Sleaford.
The Challenge is in aid of WheelPower which provides sports wheelchairs, training and support to disabled people. Participants are also welcome to raise funds for their own respective charities.
“We see a great number of charities represented during the challenge” continues Donna. “They range from cancer support to animal protection and we encourage participants to raise as much money as possible. Participants also enter in groups which great to see as it creates more awareness of their chosen charities.”
Entries cost £18 per person for the 26 mile run/walk and £15 per person for the 13 mile run/walk. Participants must be 16 years and over to enter the 26 mile run, however anyone aged 14-15 years may enter the 26 mile walk or 13 mile walk / run but must be accompanied by an adult.
