Sensory strolls take place on the last Tuesday of the month at Whisby Nature Park and are ideal for people living with dementia and their carers; walks are designed to stimulate the senses and to enjoy the outdoors.
Providing appropriate sensory stimulation for Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia has been shown to decrease agitation and restlessness, as well as improve sleep. These symptoms are very common in most forms of dementia, so sensory stimulation translates as improved quality of life for the patient as well as for the caregiver.
Sensory Strolls are free for anyone to attend and are led by trained volunteers. Refreshments are also available to purchase from the Boardwalk Bistro afterwards, providing the opportunity to socialise with other carers and members of the group.
The next Sensory stroll will take place on Tuesday 29 November at 11am. Please meet outside the Natural World Centre – please note there is a £1 parking charge (October to March).
