'When in Sleaford...' - Arts and Heritage Trail is a series of 18 round, bronze artworks, or 'roundels', which will be sited in pavements and on walls around Sleaford, acting as way-markers to public artworks, places of interest and historic buildings in the town.
The artworks were designed by artist David Mackie who worked with local school children and residents on the proposals, including themes of local heritage, archaeology, architecture and natural history. David also worked with William Alvey School on creating a Memorial bronze plaque for Project 72, remembering the 72 young men from the school who died in WW1 and will be a special feature on the new trail. Here are some photos from the private viewing celebrating this wonderful new project with the artist, partners, funders, residents and pupils that have been involved.
All 18 roundels are on display at Navigation House, Sleaford until this end of the month; so make sure you pop in for a visit to see all 18 'roundels' together before they are installed at their final destination!
