Try your hand at willow weaving with local crafter Alison Walling or have a go at making your own corn dolly at Cogglesford Watermill's Country Craft event this Sunday 10.30am to 3.30pm. There will also be woodworking demonstrations by Alan Eley from Hill Holt Wood. Alan is an award winning traditional woodworker with years of experience and will be on hand to offer tips and advice for any budding woodworkers.
The millers will also be busy throughout the day putting the mill in to action for a special milling day. See the huge water wheel rumble into action as the huge cogs and wheels use the power of the water to turn the mill stones, producing stone ground flour using certified organic wheat.
The mill has been producing flour since the early 18th century and has been beautifully preserved by North Kesteven District Council, giving a real insight into milling in days gone by.
Whilst you’re there you can learn about the history of the mill and its millers, try your hand at grinding grain and explore the mill. Why not take home a reminder of your day with a bag of Cogglesford Watermill’s very own flour, on sale in the shop.
