“This event brings the community together!” says Donna Sutton, Events Manager for Better in North Kesteven. “We have people take part from all over the county not to mention the UK but it’s great to see everyone supporting each other along the way whether they know each other or not. That’s what makes the challenge what it is.”

Today marks 100 years of the Royal Air Force and in the Heart of Lincolnshire, aviation is very close to our hearts and is something we are excited to celebrate this year. Lincolnshire is renowned as the 'home of the Royal Air Force' with several operational airfields serving modern day RAF. The county's flat open countryside and its location made it ideal for the development of airfields during World War I, and in World War II, became the most important home of Bomber Command.
While this year we celebrate the achievements of the Royal Air Force, it is important that we take time to remember the men and women who served in the most turbulent times. You can still see former airfields, visit museums and memorials in North Kesteven which are detailed in their Airfield Trail.
Discover the history of RAF Cranwell at Cranwell Aviation Heritage Museum, explore an original operations room bunker at RAF Digby or recall life on an operational wartime airfield at Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre honouring 106 Squadron. Closer to Lincoln you can visit RAF Waddington's Heritage Centre or experience International Bomber Command Centre which has its official opening in less than two weeks time.
There are also a number of events taking place throughout the area for all ages. Whether your an enthusiast or wanting to know more, there's something to suit all interests.
