National Mills Weekend also marks the start of Real Bread Maker Week, run by the Real Bread Campaign, which encourages people to bake or buy traditionally made bread. Cogglesford Watermill will also be welcoming Sonya Hundal from Greenfield Bakers. Sonya will be selling a variety of artisan bread loaves, made from stoneground organic flour and baked in a French clay wood-fired oven and bringing lots of samples to try first.
If you’re inspired to make your own bread you can buy flour which has been ground at the mill, using certified organic wheat using a free recipe card. You can also sample homemade preserves from H M Preserves which you can also buy in the shop – perfect to accompany your homemade bread! Whilst you’re there you can learn about the history of the mill and its millers, try your hand at grinding grain and explore the mill. Why not take home a reminder of your day with a bag of Cogglesford Watermill’s very own flour, on sale in the shop. The milling will take place between 11am and 4pm. For more information about the Milling Day or for other events taking place at Cogglesford Watermill please visit www.cogglesfordwatermill.co.uk or contact the North Kesteven District Council tourism team on 01529 308102.
