Frances completed her first challenge in 4hrs 28mins (after talking a slight detour!) but managed to redeem herself the next war by finishing in 3hrs 38mins!
The Spires and Steeples Arts & Heritage trail is well known for being an off road trail which follows the Spires from village to village through North Kesteven which was one of the main reasons Frances was first attracted to the challenge. It is also a great opportunity to see the many beautiful artworks that are scattered along the route created by the communities that live there. After asking what her favourite aspect of the challenge was she said it was the 'informality and friendliness of all the marshals' and has always recommended the challenge to her running colleagues. “My most memorable moments must be on the first year when at about 19 miles I couldn't find that sculpture in the tree! I wandered around for half an hour looking! Lost a lot of time but made up for it the following year!” Frances is determined complete the 10th year despite being in her seventh round of chemotherapy for secondary breast cancer! “As my prognosis was not good, I gave up my job of 25 yrs as a Prison Officer as “life is short” mine will be unfortunately, but I am determined to keep enjoying my running for as long as possible”. Frances is a true inspiration to us all and we hope she has inspired you to join us and take part in what is wonderful event welcoming individuals from all walks of life!
